To reduce labor when operating a jinrikisha to travel, and to improve safety.
In the jinrikisha expressed with a figure, a steering bar 1 is fitted to a car body through springs 5. A sensor 7 detects the extension and shrinkage of a steering bar when accelerating or decelerating the jinrikisha. When accelerating, a motor 16 is driven on the basis of the output of the sensor 7 for auxiliary drive of wheels 4R and 4L. When decelerating, the motor is switched to a regenerative braking on the basis of the output of the sensor 7. A clutch 10 and the motor are turned off to enable a directional change by lightly gripping a brake lever 2. A brake 11 is operated by strongly gripping the brake lever 2 at a degree corresponding to the strength of grip. When grounding of the tip of the steering bar is detected by a sensor 3, the brake is turned on, and the motor is turned off.
