Abstract:
PURPOSE: To almost prevent an adhesive from being applied to a surface other than a scarfed face by a method wherein a member rotating in a veneer feed direction is provided in a feed path of a veneer with an adhesive applied to its scarfed face.
CONSTITUTION: When a veneer B reaches below a presser roll 13, the presser roll 13 is lowered by actuating a cylinder 9 to press down a leading end of a scarfed face of the veneer B against an application belt 17 with an adhesive applied in a stripe form in the feed direction of the veneer B using a reception roll 7 as a supporting point. At the same time, an application roller 27 is swung downward by a cylinder 29. By further feeding the veneer B, the rotating application roll 27 feeds the scarfed face with the adhesive 22 scooped thereon while swinging in the veneer feed direction about a fulcrum of a shaft 23. The adhesive 22 is pressed by the application roller 27 to be spread over the scarfed face by the progress of the veneer B. The veneer B moves forward while pressing up the application roller 27. The application roller 27 rotates while scraping off the adhesive 22. The amount of the adhesive 22 to be spread over is adjusted by the force of the cylinder 9.
