Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent failure and misalignment at the time of cutting and to prevent foaming at the time of joining by arraying plural pieces of optical fibers into receiving grooves of a joining jig having prescribed recesses, packing an adhesive agent therein and forming projecting parts in the joint part. CONSTITUTION:Plural pieces of the optical fibers 1 are arranged in the receiving grooves 4 of the joining jig 2 formed with the recesses 3 having a prescribed shape and the adhesive agent 5 is injected into the grooves 4 to join the optical fibers 1. The projecting part 7 is formed in the joint part when the adhesive agent 5 is packed into the recesses 3 of the grooves 4 at this time. The failure and misalignment of the optical fibers 1 are, therefore, prevented if there is the projecting part 7 at the time of cutting and polishing the joint part. Forma tion of a spacing at the boundary face with an optical member is obviated and intrusion of air bubbles into the spacing is prevented if a jig formed with a receiving recess to allow fitting of the projecting part 7 is used for a connecting jig at the time of joining the optical fibers with the other optical member.
