To provide a tool and method for easily and rapidly performing connection work to connect a hard hose to a joint.

The spring force of a spring 8 applied to an upper handle 2 is made stronger than that of a spring 7 applied to a lower handle 1 to pivot the handles on the upper part and lower part of a rear side part of a base body 3 respectively (4, 5). When the lower handle is operated upward, a pivot 17 of a base part front end part 16 moves a support member 12 backward, and tip semicylindrical parts 10', 10' are closed by the backward movement of right and left grip members 10, 10 to grip the hard hose. When the upper handle is operated downward, a pivot 21 of a base part front end part 22 operates the rear side part of an operating plate 26 upward. The front side part of the operating plate is thereby operated downward to move an operating rod 20 downward, and a tip part 29 of a joint pressing member 19 is inserted in the joint disposed at the upper end opening of the hard hose to pressure-fit them.
