Abstract:
To solve the problem that when high carbon steel is used for a joint pin to obtain a joint pin with high hardness, caulking cracks may occur in caulking.SOLUTION: Copper plating D is applied to the entire surface of a joint pin material of 0.5 to 0.6% C and 550 to 750 HV (a). An outer peripheral surface 20 of a pin tip part to be caulked is cut to remove the copper plating, and a counterbore hole 19 for caulking is formed (b). Carbon is released only from the outer peripheral surface of the pin tip part by decarburization treatment, and carbon is dispersed throughout the pin tip part by heat treatment to reduce the hardness of the pin tip part (550 to 650 HV) (c). The copper plating on a joint pin 13 is peeled off by grinding (d).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
