PURPOSE: To provide titled pad having adequate low-temperature insulating potential, by housing in a bag made of synthetic resin sheet a fibrous low-temperature insulating material such as glass wool, sealing it, followed by evacuating the air contained, under vacuum, to shrink the thickness of the entire body into a value below the joint width of a low-temperature insulating layer.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a fibrous low-temperature insulating material 2 such as glass wool is housed and sealed in a bag 1 made of synthetic resin sheet, followed by evacuating the air in the bag 1 under vacuum through an air tube 1a, to shrink the thickness of the entire body into a value t below the joint width G of a low-temperature insulating layer B, thus obtaining the objective pad. The pad 10 thus obtained, is inserted in the joint C of the layer B, followed by cutting the bag 1 at an appropriate position to effect expansion of the fibrous material 2 to its original state due to air flow into the bag 1, thus firmly packing the joint C.
EFFECT: Capable of achieving the jointing in a simple way, also, readily adaptable to the heat shrinkage of the low-temperature insulating layer.
