Title:
KEY CONVERSION TYPE PIN TUMBLER LOCK
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3158269
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make only a new key usable by inserting the new key after rotating a rotor to a certain line by insertion of the previous key into a lock, and then rotating the rotor to its original position.
CONSTITUTION: Seven bottomed pin holes, for example, are bored at predetermined intervals in a fixed element 2 in a casing 1, and drive pins 4A to 4G are enclosed in the holes, together with a coil spring 5. Also, seven through pin holes that can communicate with the bottomed pin holes via a rotating surface 13 are bored in the large-diameter part of a rotor 3 and code pins 6A to 6G of a predetermined length are inserted into the through pin holes. The small-diameter part of one drive pin 4C is made narrow to such an extent that it can be folded and separated. To change the key of a tumbler lock, the key to be changed is inserted into a slot in the lock and turned, and, when another key is inserted and turned with the rotor being rotated to a certain line, the end of the specific drive pin advances into the through pin hole, and the small-diameter part between the main body and the end of the pin is located on the rotating surface, so the small-diameter part is folded during rotation and the pin end separates and moves to the adjacent pin hole. The key that can unlock is thus changed.
