PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key for a cylinder lock, which can offer a great number of different combinations of locks and keys and can enhance lock safety and false-key safety.
SOLUTION: This key 1 for the cylinder lock is equipped with an approximately cylindrical and slim key rod 3. Control grooves 4, 5 and 6 of at least one control groove set are pierced into a three-dimensionally curved outer surface of the key rod 3. The control groove set is equipped with the control grooves 4, 5 and 6 which are elongated mainly in a key inserting direction and at least partially cross one another. One 6 of the control grooves 4, 5 and 6 is formed deeper than both of the other control grooves 4 and 5 which are elongated almost in parallel with each other. At least two ring-shaped different control elements are arranged in the cylinder lock along a key passage. One of the control elements is equipped with a control mechanism which is protruded inward and engaged with the deeper control groove 6; and the other is equipped with two control mechanisms which are protruded inward and engaged with the two shallow control grooves 4 and 5.
