PURPOSE: To enable an unlocking number to be set in an extremely simple manner.
CONSTITUTION: An operation ring 8 is rotated as required with respect to a key hole ring 7 by an operator having purchased a key, and a position is determined, in which respective unlocking numbers corresponding to the respective rotation of the operation ring 8 fall on a line in the horizontal direction while the projected section 5e of an axial member 1 is set at respective positions corresponding to reference positions provided. A pin 13 is then pushed inwardly every rotation of the operation ring 8. Since the end section 13a at the inner side of the pin 13 is thereby pressed in one of the engaging grooves 7d of the key hole ring 7, the operation ring 8 is connected to the key hole ring 7. By this constitution, setting for the unlocking number of three figures is completed. As a key main body 3 is on the market in a state that it is assembled, the only thing that has to be done is to set the unlocking number as mentioned above, and its setting can be done in an extremely simple manner.
