Title:
KEYBOARD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2010170359
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a keyboard that makes patterns on key tops identifiable, achieves cost savings and structural simplicity and keeps the key tops illuminated enough.

The keyboard includes a pressure sensing layer 2 built in a shape protection plate 1, rubber single keys 10 arrayed on the pressure sensing layer 2, the depressible key tops 20 supported on the rubber single keys 10, a frame 30 for exposing the rubber single keys 10, and guide mechanisms 40 disposed on the frame 30 to support the key tops 20 for vertical motion. An optically transparent light guide layer 50 is interposed between the pressure sensing layer 2 and the frame 30 to guide beams from a plurality of LEDs 51 for illumination of the key tops 20, the key tops 20 are provided with optically transparent patterns, and the plurality of LEDs 51 are opposed to peripheral surfaces of the light guide layer 50. This eliminates the need to prepare as many LEDs 51 as the key tops 20 to thereby achieve running cost savings and structural simplicity.
