Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a die for die casting which has excellent heat crack resistance on the die face in a die and also does not develop the crack near a water cooling hole, and a manufacturing method thereof.
CONSTITUTION: In the die for die casting, the water cooling hole 2 having the hardness only on the inner diameter part thereof lower than the hardness on the die face in the die 1, is provided near the die face of the die 1. In the manufacturing method thereof, quenching and tempering are applied to the die 1 forming the water cooling hole 2, and the inner diameter part of the water cooling hole is heated at higher temp. than the tempering temp. to the whole die, and the tempering is applied only near the inner diameter surface part of the water cooling hole so as to become the hardness of the whole die or lower, with heating medium of high frequency heating 7, burner or laser beam heating 8, etc. Further, in the another manufacturing method, after applying the quenching to the die, the tempering is applied only near the inner diameter of the water cooling hole with the heating means of high frequency heating 7, burner or laser beam heating 8, etc., so as to become the hardness of the whole die or lower and thereafter, the whole die is tempered to the prescribed hardness.
