Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a labeled glycerol nitrate of high purity (>99%) with extremely high specific radioactivity (>135 Ci/millimol) and proper stability (>30 days).

CONSTITUTION: For the preparation of [1,3-14C2]glyceryl 1,2-dinitrate and [1,3-14 C2]glyceryl 1,3-dinitrate, 14CO2 is obtained from Ba14CO3 and reduced in an inert organic solvent; the [14C]formaldehyde obtained is treated with nitromethane; the [1,3-14C2]dihydroxyacetone produced is reduced in an inert organic solvent; the [1,3-14C2]glycerol product is nitrated in a mixture of HNO3 and H2SO4. Then, the prepared mixture of [1,3-14C2]glyceryl 1,2-dinitrate and [1,3-14C2]glyceryl 1,3-dinitrate are separated into each compound.
