Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the cost and weight of a labyrinth seal structure for use in a gas turbine engine or the like and to simplify assembling procedures by securing an annular flange provided with an annular groove and the legs of guide vanes together by use of a pair of pins.

CONSTITUTION: An outward annular flange 36 is formed at the downstream end of a land 32 having a freely abradable liner 34 combined therewith and an annular groove 38 is formed around the flange 36. A leg 46 projecting from the underside of a guide vane 20 is inserted into the groove 38 and a pair of pins 44 are fitted into holes 40 bored through walls 42. Therefore, the need to from the groove 38 by assembling separate flanges is eliminated and cutting operations are reduced whereby cost and weight can be reduced. Also, assembling procedures can be simplified by the pair of pins 44.
