To provide a laminate and a packaging material using it, which make the laminate possess proper laminate strength, without being affected by the states of oxidation and contamination of the following surfaces, when a thermoplastic resin is laminated on the aluminum surface or alumina surface of an aluminum foil layer, an aluminum-vapor deposited layer or an alumina-vapor deposited layer, provided as barrier layers on a base material, and which prevent a decrease in the strength of the laminate even if various kinds of strongly-permeable substances are packaged by using the laminate.
This laminate, wherein a thermoplastic resin layer is laminated on the aluminum surface or alumina surface of a base material with any one of the aluminum foil layer, the aluminum-vapor deposited layer and the alumina-vapor deposited layer, is characterized in that surface treatment is applied to the aluminum surface or the alumina surface by using a treatment agent containing a zirconium compound.
