PURPOSE: To enhance the reliability for a magnetic disk device with a long lifetime, by installing a disk separator with a solid lubricant layer formed on the surface of the disk separator opposing to the flexible magnetic disk by coating the hardwearing solid lubricant.

CONSTITUTION: The following devices are provided: the upper and lower stabilizing boards 11 and 12; flexible magnetic disk 13; magnetic disk lamination 14; spacer 15; spindle 16; lamination gap 17 of the disk 13; disk separator 20; disk separator main body 21; disk separator surface 23; information converter 24; the first carriage 30; the first feed screw 31; the first driving motor 32; the second carriage 33; the second feed screw 34; the second driving motor 35; frame 36; spindle assembly 200; and disk separator positioning device 300 each. The main body 21 is inserted into the lamination 14 as shown in the diagram, thus reducing greatly the breakdown of the disk 13.
