To obtain a laminated nonwoven fabric comprising short fibers make of conjugate filament yarns of excellent cooling disposition, spinnability and drawability following their delivery from a spinneret, good ion biodegradability which is controllable, rich in both moisture and water ansorbability, and having enough mechanical strength to stand its practical use.

The single fiber as constituent fiber this nonwoven fabric has the following characteristics: made up of high-melting component 2 and low-melting component 2 each consisting of biodegradable aliphatic polyester; in the fiber cross-section, the high-melting component 1 and the low-melting component 2 alternately occupies a specified range reach from the center of the cross section toward the circumference and are divided into segments each with an area equal to one another. To obtain the above constituent fiber, a melt conjugate spinning followed by drawing is conducted to produce solid and alternate-type conjugate filament yarns in such a way that both the high-melting and low-melting components 1, 2 are continuous in the direction of fiber axis and exposed onto the fiber surface, and the resultant drawn filament yarns nechanically crimped and cur to a specified length, then carded into a short web, which is, in turn, laminated with a natural fiber web followed by subjecting both the webs to fluid jet treatment into integration through three-dimensional interlacing of the constituent fibers of both the webs, thus affording the objective laminated nonwoven fabric.
