PURPOSE: To prepare the subject nonwoven fabric having a high strength and excellent in the dimensional stability, water absorbability, skin touch, etc., by laminating a web layer comprising thermoplastic synthetic filaments to a web layer comprising cellulosic short fibers, integrally interlacing the laminated product into a three-dimensional structure and subsequently thermally bonding the thermoplastic filaments to each other.

CONSTITUTION: (A) A web layer comprising thermoplastic synthetic filaments, preferably sheath-core type conjugate filaments whose sheath and core components are prepared from an olefinic polymer and a thermoplastic polymer having a higher melting point 30°C than that of the olefinic polymer, respectively, is laminated to (B) a web layer comprising cellulosic short fibers. A high pressure liquid column-like flow is jetted to the laminated product to integrally interlace the laminated product in a three-dimensional structure, and a thermal bonding treatment is applied to the web layer A to provide the nonwoven fabric wherein the filaments in the web layer A are partially thermally bonded to each other.
