Abstract:
To obtain the subject compound having a lipophilic group bound to the molecule, having an ion-exchangeable or ionized proton-forming part and useful as a carrier for an objective metal ion or as a complexing receiver.
A compound of the formula {(n) is an integer of 1-3; R is CxH2X+1 [(x) is an integer of 6-18]}, e.g. octyl-substituted 4-pyridono-18-crown-6. The octyl-substituted 4-pyridono-18-crown-6-among the compound of the formula is obtained by a method comprising reacting 4-(tetrahydro-2-pyranoxy)-2,6- pyridinedimethanol ditosylate derivative with octyl-substituted tetraethylene glycol. Thereby, the compound capable of being effectively used on the separation of a selected ion from a solution containing many ions can be provided.
