To prevent a pallet changer device for carrying in and out a pallet from being damaged by vibratingly and horizontally moving the pallet, dropping projections on a work thereby eliminating collision between the projections and the device.
Upon completion of laser machining, a pallet 2 on which a work 3 is loaded moves vibratingly to the side of a device for carrying in and out a pallet, thereby dropping projections of a machined product 9 or a cut chip 10 down the pallet 2. In carrying out a lower level pallet 2b after laser machining, a detector consisting of a light-emitting unit 11a and a light- receiving unit 11b detects the machined product 9 or the cut chip 10 that projects on the work 3, so that the pallet 2b may be stopped or moved vibratingly to remove the projections based on a signal from the detector. Thus, interference between the projections and the device is eliminated to prevent the device from being damaged.
