The device is provided with a laser diode stack 7 which generates a semiconductor laser beam, a first optical fiber 10 which transmits the semiconductor laser beam, a first radiation part 12 which is provided at the end of the first optical fiber 10 and irradiates an object 23 to be machined with semiconductor laser beam, a switching device 15 which is located between the laser diode stack 7 and the first optical fiber 10 and switches the optical path of the semiconductor laser beam either to the first optical fiber 10 or the other, a resonator 18 which converts the semiconductor laser beam switched to the other optical fiber into a solid state laser beam, a second optical fiber 20 which transmits the converted solid state laser beam and a second radiation part 22 which is provided at the end of the second optical fiber 20 and irradiates the object 23 to be machined with the solid state laser beam.
