PURPOSE: To continuously and automatically operate a processing apparatus irradiating the end surface of an eyeless needle material with beam to form a hole thereto for a long time.

CONSTITUTION: A plurality of shield members 6 shielding sputtering are arranged between the irradiation member 4 of the laser beam emitted from a laser oscillator 5 and the end surface 1a of an eyeless needle material within the plane crossing the connection line connecting both of them. These shield members 6 are mounted on a holding member 8 and the holding member 8 is driven in one direction by a motor 11. When the shield members, life expires, the holding member is driven by the motor to arrange new shield members in place of the life-expired shield members.
