Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the optical coupling efficiency and the temperature characteristic by correcting the shift quantity of an optical isolator.

CONSTITUTION: The first polarizing prism 3 is arranged on a slope in the side of a semiconductor laser 1 of a parallelepiped Farady rotator 2 which has slopes with respect to the optical axis, and the second polarizing prism 4 whose optical axis is inclined at 45° to that of the first polarizing prism 3 is arranged on a slope in the side of an optical fiber 7 through a half wavelength plate 11, thus forming an optical isolator. A compensating plate 10 which corrects the shift quantity of the optical isolator is arranged in the exit face side of the second polarizing prism.
