To provide an apparatus for scanning parts to reduce gaps between the parts.SOLUTION: A first surface (146) of a part (111) is scanned with a laser scanner (102) as a platform (108) of a computer numerical controlled (CNC) gantry tool (110) moves relative to the part to form scan data (148), in which the laser scanner (102) is connected to the platform (108) of the computer numerical controlled (CNC) gantry tool (110).
