To provide a laser scanning microscope having flexibility in both of mirror array excitation and detection or any one of them by providing a selectively switchable microscope arrangement in both of illumination and detection processes or any one of them.
The radiation from a sample can be focused on a confocal pinhole PH1 located inside a conjugate object plane (in the case of confocal use). This pinhole PH1 simultaneously forms the incident aperture part of monochrometer (regularly 'grid' GT and image forming lenses SP1 and SP2) and the monochrometer splits the sample radiation into spectrum components through its diffusing operation. On the focal plane of a diffusion medium (regularly 'grid'), there is a one-dimensional switching mirror array DMD at least, on that array, the image of sample spectrum is optically formed and a condenser lens system FO and a detector DT are post-arranged.
