To make it possible to be easily assembled and adjusted, to reduce the number of components and to be made adaptive to space saving by eliminating the need for separately assembling a wavelength conversion function part and an optical intensity modulation function part.
The laser system L is provided with a laser generation part 1 provided with a semiconductor laser 11 and a wavelength transducer 2 having a polarization inversion layer 22 in which a beam emitted by the semiconductor laser 11 is inputted and which transduces the wavelength of the inputted beam into a prescribed wavelength and outputs the resultant beam. A polarization optical waveguide 21b formed by extending an optical waveguide 21 is provided at the wavelength transducer 2. Electrodes 25a and 25b are provided so as to sandwich the extended optical waveguide 21b and an electric field is applied to the electrodes 25a and 25b to modulate optical intensity of output light.
