To provide a method for forming a laser thermal transfer image in which a winding tendency caused in the case of performing winding in a roll shape is prevented and holding properties on a drumlike supporting body after cutting a sheet are good and a good image little in fluctuation of dot gain is obtained and both adhesion properties and transfer properties of an ink sheet and an image receiving sheet are good and even when an image transferred on an image receiving face is transferred on recycled paper, roughness of dots is eliminated and good picture quality is obtained.

In the method for forming the laser thermal transfer image, both a roll-shaped ink sheet 3 wound with an ink face outside and a roll-shaped image receiving sheet 4 wound with an image receiving face outside, are used. Then, in such a state that both sheets 3, 4 are respectively cut in prescribed length, laminated and held on a drum-shaped supporting body 7, laser beam corresponding to image information is irradiated and laser beam is absorbed by the ink sheet 3 and converted into heat. An image is transferred and formed on the image receiving face by converted heat.
