PURPOSE: To improve the butting accuracy of steel strips by providing a work table to support the preceding and succeeding steel strips, disposing a swiveling table to the lower part thereof and driving the tables respectively by means of numerically controlled motors.
CONSTITUTION: A preceding side fixing clamp 12 and a succeeding side fixing clamp 13 are provided to both sides of a welding torch 11 and the work table 14 to support the steel strips 1, 2 is disposed. The swiveling table 17 is provided to the lower part of the table 14. The linear moving bearing of the table 14 is engaged with the bearing rail of the table 17. The steel strips 1, 2 fed by pinch rolls 3, 4 are cut by shears 7, 8 and are butted and set on the work table 14. The tables 14, 17 are then driven respectively by the numerically controlled motors 31, 37. Since the accuracy of the fine adjustment for the butting is improved by the co-movement of the tables 14, 17, the butting accuracy of the steel strips 1, 2 is improved.
