In a laser welding method and a laser welding equipment 1, the case body A is supported by a supporting member 5 rotatable by a servo motor 3, the lid B is placed on this case body A, this lid B is pressed by a pressing member 11 rotatable by the servo motor 9, laser beam 17a is irradiated on the abutted part of the case body A and the lid B from the transverse direction by a laser machine 17 supported by an x-y table 16, and the laser welding of the abutted part of the case body A and the lid B is performed by controlling the rotational motion of the servo motors 3 and 9 and the moving motion of the x-y table 16 in the x-y direction so that the laser beam 17a is consistently focused at the abutted part of the case body A and the lid B by keeping the constant space between the laser machine 17 and the abutted part of the case body A and the lid B.
