PURPOSE: To prevent an active material from dropping off, by providing small meshes in medium meshes so that the small meshes are adjacent to the small line crossings of an expanded latticework for a storage battery.

CONSTITUTION: Small meshes 8 are provided in the medium meshes 5 of a latticework 1 so that the small meshes are adjacent to its small line crossings 7. The thickness of small lines 9, which define the contour of the small meshes 8, is equal to about a half of that of small lines 6. To manufacture the latticework 1, slits 11 are provided in a staggered state in band metal 10, other slits 12 are provided in a staggered state between the slits 11 and the band metal is thereafter expanded. Since the small meshes 8 are provided in the medium meshes 5, an active material is prevented from dropping off.
