Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic/organic hybrid material having the properties of both materials and a coating material made of the same.
SOLUTION: An organoalkoxysilane having an alkoxyl and an organic group is reacted with a salt or alkoxide of a metal based on titanium to obtain, a layered organic titanosilicate which is a laminate of a silicon tetrahedral sheet 4 and an octahedral sheet 2 of a metal based on titanium and in which the organic group is covalently bonded to each central atom of the sheet 4. When groups containing functional groups are used as the organic groups, a tough coating material can be obtained by polymerizing the functional groups of the formed layered titanosilicate. This material has the properties (e.g. high hardness and heat resistance) of an inorganic material and the properties (e.g. flexibility and formability into a film at ordinary temperature) of an organic material and exhibits excellent ultraviolet-intercepting properties.
