Abstract:

PURPOSE: To operate a melt reduction furnace installation with simple treating installations and high thermal efficiency by disposing the various installations from a raw material preheater to the melt reduction furnace in the melt reduction furnace installation in a sequential gravity down flow system.

CONSTITUTION: The raw material to be refined in the melt reduction furnace 1 is dropped by a bucket elevator 20 onto a belt conveyor 19 and is supplied by a charging chute 11 into a rotary kiln 3. The high-temp. waste gas from the furnace 1 is fed via a duct 13 into the rotary kiln to preheat the raw material in the kiln. The raw material preheated in the kiln 3 is supplied from a hopper 8 by an oscillating body 9 for conveyance and a charging chute 10 into the furnace 1, by which the raw material is refined. The waste gas emitted from the kiln 3 is fed through a dust collector 15 into a chimney 17 by an induced draft fan 16. The raw material conveyed by the conveyor 10 is supplied thereafter by the gravity flow down to the melt reduction furnace without using driving powder. The heat retained by the waste gas of the furnace 1 is thus effectively utilized to preheat the raw material, by which the thermal efficiency is improved.
