PURPOSE: To machine a lead surface with high precision and efficiently by a method wherein a lead cam having a lift equivalent to a lead curve is provided on a main spindle part that rotates a work and a tool is reciprocated along this cam.
CONSTITUTION: A lead cam 8 that is an end cam and a chuck 9 are fixed to the end of the spindle 7 of a main spindle part 6 and a work 10 is gripped by the chuck 9. An oil pressure unit 40 as an oil pressure generator supplies working oil to the main spindle part 6, the static pressure liquid bearing part of a sliding table part 22 and a lead machining unit 20. A controlling device 39 controls the oil pressure unit 40 and a lead machining device body 41 in accordance with signals of an encoder 38. Accordingly, machining excellent in oscillation absorption and of high accuracy can be obtained.
