Abstract:
PURPOSE: To detect an obstruction regardless of the earth shift between units connected to an interface by comparing the differential voltage detected by each wire of a cable with a pair of threshold voltages.
CONSTITUTION: A signal outputted to output nodes 50, 51 of a differential driver 12 is transmitted to a cable 16 through a network 14. An arithmetic amplifier 32 of an obstruction detecting system 30 is connected to the nodes 50, 51, and its output 33 is supplied to a window comparator circuit 34. A replica network 38 is designed so as to copy the nominal values of the cable 16 and the networks 14, 18 related thereto. The window comparator circuit 34 receives the output of the arithmetic amplifier 32, and receives threshold levels set by a threshold generator 42 from outputs 80, 81. A differential voltage sensed by each wire of the cable 16 is compared with a pair of preliminarily set threshold voltages to detect the obstruction of the cable 16.
