To provide a lens barrel that offers good optical performance and a method of aligning the same.SOLUTION: A lens barrel (2) of the present invention comprises a lens holding frame (102, etc.) holding a lens (L4), a first frame (101, etc) different from the lens holding frame, and a drive unit (103, etc.) provided in one of the first frame and the lens holding frame and configured to drive the other of the first frame and the lens holding frame in a direction crossing an optical axis according to at least one of a focal length, a shooting distance, and a lens position in the optical axis direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 15
