PURPOSE:To obtain a lens system which is small in size, light in weight and low in electric power consumption and cost by commonly constituting parts of a lens barrel and lens driving means so that a lens group is directly driven and the superconduction of good energy efficiency is utilized. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting material 2 is used for the lens group driving means which controls the position of the lens group to be used for zooming or a part of the constituting elements of the lens group. The lens group driving means is integral with the lens barrel 1 of the lens system or is a part of the lens barrel. The lens group driving means consists of a lens coupling member 3 which encloses the lens group or a part of the constituting elements of the lens group and the lens barrel 1 of the lens system enclosing the entire part of the lens system. Said driving means drives the lens group or a part of the constituting elements of the lens group in the direction of the optical axis by the magnetic field which the lens barrel 1 of the lens system generates perpendicularly to the face of the lens barrel and the electric current flowing in the lens coupling member 3 in the outside circumferential direction of the lens. The common constitution of the parts of the lens barrel and the lens driving means is enabled by this constitution and the direct driving of the lens group is enabled. In addition, the superconduction of the good energy efficiency is utilized. The lens system which is small in size, light in weight and low in electric power consumption and cost is thereby obtd.
