Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL: The compd. of formula I [X is O, S, SO or SO2; R1 is H, alkyl, akinyl, halogen, phenoxy, OH, etc.; R2 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, phenyl-alkyl, pyridylmethyl, etc.; R3 is OH, OR6 or OCOR7 (R6 is alkyl, alyl, benzyl; R' is alkyl, phenyl); R4 is alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, phenyl, etc.; R5 is H, halogen, OH, alkyl, etc.].

EXAMPLE: Methyl(6RS)-7-(2-benzyoxyphenyl)-6-hydroxy-4-thiaheptanoate.

USE: A leukotriene antagonist. Adequate for the treatment of allergic and inflammatory diseases, rheumatoid arthritis and shock.

PROCESS: The compd. of the formula I in which R3 is OH and X is O or S is obtd. by bringing, for example, the compd. of formula II into reaction with the compd. of formula R4XH (X is O, S).
