Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and portable lifesaving descender.
SOLUTION: This lifesaving descender 1 is formed of a ring-like circumferentially opened reel 5 having an inside plate 3 and both side plates 4, on which a wire 2 having the tip formed so as to be fixed to the facility of a building or heavy furniture and the base end fixed thereto is wound; a body 10 formed in a ring-shape by an inside plate 6, an outside plate 7 and both side plates so as to rotatably house the reel 5 and having a pullout part 9 for pulling the tip of the wire 2 to the outside; a brake member 12 provided in a prescribed position of the body 10, having a brake shoe 11 for pressing the inside plate 3 of the reel 5 to impart a braking force to the reel 5, and capable of controlling the pressing force; and a harness mounted on the body 10 as a body support member for supporting a descending person. Since this apparatus is portable with a simple and lightweight structure, the descending place can be optionally selected.
