To provide a lifting drive for an elevator capable of attaining manufacturing cost reduction.
This lifting drive for the elevator 1 includes a stationary member 2; a sheave 3 which rotates relatively to the stationary member 2 and is wound with a rope 4; an electric motor 6; and a reduction gear for transmitting the rotation of a rotor 10 of the electric motor to the sheave 3. The reduction gear is of planetary gear type reduction gear 20 including: an input shaft 21 integral with a rotor 10 of the electric motor 6; a stationary ring member 22 arranged inside the sheave 3 in a radial direction and integral with the securing member 2; a plurality of planetary rollers 26 engaged with the outer circumference of the input shaft 21 and the inner circumference of the stationary member 22 at the outer circumference; and a supporting member 28 in which the plurality of planet rollers 26 are rotatably supported to fetch output rotation and which has a supporting member 28 integral with the sheave 3.
