PURPOSE: To transmit and receive signals at a higher speed than the case of electrical coupling, and to improve the processing speed of the whole system of a computer by performing signal transmission and reception between boards with light.
CONSTITUTION: Plural boards 14a and 14b mounted with electronic circuit parts are respectively provided with light emitting elements 18a1, 18a2,... and 18b1, 18b2..., which convert electric signals into optical signals or light receiving elements 20a1, 202,... and 20b1, 20b2,..., which convert optical signals into electric signals. In addition, transmission type holograms 16a1, 16a2,... and 16b1, 16b2,..., facing the light emitting element of light receiving element are provided on surfaces of light guiding members 12A, 12B... separated from the boards 14a and 14b. The signal light from the light emitting elements of the boards are led to the light guiding members after they are diffracted by the holograms and totally reflected inside the light guiding members. The totally reflected light are emitted from the members after they are diffracted by another transmission type holograms and the emitted signal light are led to the light receiving elements of the other board.
