To provide a light diffusing film in which an angle of view (downward angle of view in particular) is expanded, contrast lowering, gradation or black/white reversal, or hue change suppressed even if a viewing angle varies in the observing direction and in which surface whitening, image blur and infiltration of external light are also reduced, and visibility is improved, and to provide a polarizing plate using this light diffusing film and a liquid crystal display using this light diffusing film or the polarizing plate.
The light diffusing film coated with a light diffusing layer containing translucent resin particles in a translucent resin is characterized in that the particles have a volume increasing ratio of 20% or less when immersed in an alcohol based or ketone based solvent and that the particles contain a cross-linking agent. The polarizing plate and the liquid crystal display each using this light diffusing film are disclosed.
