Abstract:
To provide a light emitting device capable of improving the light utilization efficiency and the wavelength conversion efficiency, a manufacturing method, and a waveguide structure.SOLUTION: A light emitting device 1 includes a light source 2 and a waveguide structure 5. The light source 2 emits light 6 which has directivity. The waveguide structure 5 includes an optical waveguide 3 and an exterior part 4. The optical waveguide 3 has an incident end face 7 and an outgoing end face 8, the wavelength of the light 6 incident from the incident end face 7 is converted ad output from the outgoing end face 8. The exterior part 4 has light transparency and covers the optical waveguide 3 so that the incident end face 7 and the output end face 8 are exposed. The lengthwise direction A of the optical waveguide 3 is inclined at a predetermined angle with respect to the optical axis 11 of light 6 in a predetermined plane including the lengthwise direction A of the optical waveguide 3 and the optical axis 11 of the light 6. The predetermined angle is preset so that the light 6 propagates through the optical waveguide 3 while being totally reflected at the boundary surface B between the optical waveguide 3 and the exterior part 4.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
