Abstract:
To provide a light emitting device capable of preventing polarized light emitted by a light emitting element from being disordered.
The light emitting device 1 includes the light emitting element 2 which emits the polarized light 20 whose linear polarized component is not uniform, but deviates, and a mounting base 3 on which the light emitting element is mounted. The light emitting element 2 is constituted of a nitride semiconductor having a nonpolar surface or semi-polar surface as a principal surface. The mounting base has a mounting surface 30 sectioned in a recessed shape and serving also as a reflector 30R, and the mounting surface and the surface of the reflector are made into a metal coating surface 35 to serve as a mirror surface.
