To obtain a light emitting diode array which can increases the density of a light emission part without increasing the density of a bonding wire, and its manufacture.
All light emitting diodes D(1, 1) to D(m, n) are divided into blocks B1 to Bm, the anodes of the respective diodes by the blocks B1 to Bn are connected to common electrodes A1 to An, and the cathodes of (i)-th light emitting diodes D(m, i) of all the blocks B1 to Bn are connected to other common electrodes C1 to Cn so as to constitute a matrix of the light emitting diodes D(1, 1) to D(m, n). All the light emitting diodes D(1, 1) to D(m, n) can emit light individually by applying a voltage to all the common electrodes of the matrix. The number of the common electrodes sufficient to make the light emitting diodes D(1, 1) to D(m, n) illuminate individually is half as large as that of conventional examples. The density of the light emitting parts of the light emitting diodes can be decreased by the amount corresponding to the electrodes reduced.
