Abstract:
To increase use efficiency of light in projecting an image.SOLUTION: A light source apparatus is provided, which includes: a first light source 2 that emits light in a first wavelength band; a second light source 3 that emits light in a second wavelength band different from the first wavelength band; light amount ratio changing means 5 that changes a light amount ratio between a first polarized light component and a second polarized light component in the light in the first wavelength band, the components having different polarization directions from each other; polarized light separation means 6 that splits the first polarized light component and the second polarized light component from the light amount ratio changing means; wavelength conversion means 8 that converts light in the first wavelength band obtained from the first polarized light component from the polarized light separation means into light in a third wavelength band partially including the second wavelength band; and light combining means that combines the light in the first wavelength band and the light in the second wavelength band.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1A
