Abstract:
To suppress an increase in a luminous volume even when an electrodeless discharge lamp is used.
A light source device includes: a magnetic body core 2 having a U shape; a coil wound around the magnetic body core 2; a power supply supplying high-frequency current to the coil; and a luminous tube 1 which is provided at a position held at facing ends of the magnetic body core 2 and in which a discharge medium is sealed. A plurality of projections 5 having tips provided to face each other are formed at each of the facing ends of the magnetic body core 2. A magnetic field 6 is generated between the projections 5, and an induction field 7 is generated by the magnetic field 6. Thus, the discharge medium is excited to emit light.
