A light source unit 10 is provided with a positive electrode 13 and a negative electrode 14 arranged separately from each other for forming a first electric field, and a phosphor 19 formed on the positive electrode 13 and formed of a fluorescent substance; and electrons emitted from the negative electrode 14 are accelerated toward the positive electrode 13 by the first electric field and emit light by exciting the fluorescent substance of the phosphor 19. In the light source unit 10, an electron blocking member 18 for selectively blocking courses of the electrons emitted from the negative electrode 14 is disposed between the positive electrode 13 and the negative electrode 14.
