Abstract:
PURPOSE:To inexpensively obtain the stretched light transmission body having excellent heat resistance and having a continuous refractive index distribution with good productivity by constituting the above-mentioned body of a polymer having a continuous refractive index gradient from the peripheral part toward the central part of a section and having a crosslinked structure. CONSTITUTION:The distributed refractive index type light transmission body made of a synthetic resin is produced by a stage for producing the polymer having a crosslinkable functional group and having the continuous refractive index distribution, a stage for heating and stretching this polymer and a stage of imparting the crosslinked structure to the stretched polymer. More particularly, the crosslinkable functional group is substantially prevented from reacting in the production stage for the polymer having the initial refractive index distribution. The crosslinkable functional group is prevented from reacting as well even in the heating and stretching stage. A combination of a radial polymn. by heat and cation crosslinking by light is preferable from an industrial view point as the combination of such refractive index distribution forming stage and the crosslinking stage.
