Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a means to shade off an image of a light source by scattering the light rays emitted out of a lamp such as an incandescent lamp or an arc lamp which comprises an infrared reflective multilayered optical interference filter on the outer face of the sealed glass lamp bulb made of fused quartz. CONSTITUTION: A light scattering coating 26 is arranged on an optical interference filter 24. The light scattering coating comprises a light scattering particles of such as alumina and a silica mother material in which the particles are dispersed. To form the coating, a silicone solution in which colloidal silica and the light scattering particles are dispersed is applied on a filter and the filter is then heated to a high temperature to expel an organic components and produce the silica mother material.
