Abstract:
To solve a problem such that, with ADSR, it is difficult to remove heat generation of a fission reaction target, it is necessary to reduce a structural material to be activated as much as possible from a spent nuclear fuel assembly of a light water reactor, and it is necessary to burn out spent nuclear fuel of the light water reactor with no reprocessing.SOLUTION: A nuclear fuel particles at delayed criticality or below, a deteriorated uranium plate, and a deteriorated uranium lid are laid in a reactor vessel. A large number of neutrons are generated by nuclear spallation by irradiating a plurality of proton beams from an external large number of proton accelerators to the nuclear fuel particles at delayed criticality or below, and nuclear fission chain reaction is intermittently performed. Coolant is supplied to an outside of the reactor vessel, heat is removed from an inside of the reactor vessel, and electric power is generated by the heat.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
