To provide a lighting device for a vehicle and a lighting method for a vehicle which can control an optical axis in accordance with a steering angle during an ordinary running and control the direction of the optical axis without operating a steering wheel during a slow running.

The lighting device for the vehicle includes a change deciding part of an ECU 10 for deciding whether or not a calculating method of the variation of the optical axis of a right lamp 17 or a left lamp 19 needs to be changed in accordance with a vehicle speed, and a left winker switch 14 and a right winker switch 15 for instructing an operation of a device mounted on the vehicle without giving an influence to the movement of the steering wheel of the vehicle when the change deciding part decides that the calculating method needs to be changed. When the change deciding part decides that the calculating method needs to be changed, a variation calculating part of the ECU 10 calculates the variation not in accordance with a steering amount detected by a steering angle sensor 12, but in accordance with the operation of the left winker switch 14 or the right winker switch 15.
